Mapira works when information is useful and true and when everyone feels safe. These guidelines apply to everything posted, on the public map and in private groups.
1. Post well
- Post what you saw or know, not rumors.
- Choose the right category and mark the place accurately.
- Set a realistic duration. When something is over, mark it as ended or retract it.
- Don’t duplicate: if it is already posted, confirm it with “Still there” instead of creating another one.
- If you see something that is no longer true, tap “Gone”: it helps everyone.
2. Talk about places, not people
Posts are community reports. Avoid pointing at people, neighborhoods, businesses or communities, and don’t make sweeping claims about them (“this neighborhood is dangerous”). Describe what is happening, not who someone is.
3. What is not allowed
- Spam and abusive advertising: repeated or commercial posts, or posts unrelated to the place.
- Threats and violence: threatening, inciting or celebrating violence.
- Harassment: intimidating, humiliating or targeting another person.
- Hate and discrimination: attacking people because of their origin, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other condition.
- Explicit sexual content.
- Sexual exploitation, especially of minors. We will report it to the authorities.
- Other people’s personal information without permission: home addresses, phone numbers, documents, license plates or any data that identifies someone.
- Impersonation: pretending to be another person, a company or an authority.
- Illegal activities or content that helps commit crimes.
- Deliberately misleading information: posting something you know is false.
- Report abuse: filing false reports or reporting systematically to harm someone.
- Coordinated manipulation: fake accounts, or mass confirmations or reports to distort what is shown.
4. Emergencies
Mapira does not replace emergency services. If someone is in danger, call 123 in Colombia or your country’s emergency number.
5. Private groups
These guidelines also apply within groups. Group owners and admins can remove content and manage the members of their group.
6. Report and block
- Report: in a post’s details, tap Report and choose the reason. We review every report.
- Block: in the details, Block author. You will stop seeing what they post and they will not be notified. You can unblock in Account → Blocked users.
7. What happens when someone breaks the rules
Reports are signals that we review: nobody is banned automatically because of the number of reports. While we review, a post may be hidden as a precaution. Depending on severity and history, measures are gradual:
- Removing the post.
- Warning.
- Temporary posting restriction (for example, 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days).
- Account suspension.
- Permanent ban in serious cases.
8. Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, email phanteus.group@gmail.com with the subject “Mapira appeal” and we will review it.
